The Centre’s Director

The Centre’s Director, Mark Gordon, has been a crucial part of the choreographic development process of many projects at the Centre. His role in your project is negotiable: he can nurture the individuals and guide the development process; including coaching, dramaturgical support, theatre craft, technical production input, and crisis intervention. He can provide mentoring by agreement. When a choreographer has committed to a public performance season, it is Mark’s responsibility to see that it goes ahead and is presented at the highest quality. The Director does not make artistic or stylistic judgements on the work, and does not drive your process unless asked for assistance.

Where space and resources permit, the Centre supports academic research projects, professional secondments, tertiary student secondments and work placements. Where the Centre’s facilities are not being used for other programs, short term access is possible for a range of dance projects - the Director can award these ‘Grants of Space’ at relatively short notice.
